River of Love
I fall in love again
every time I watch her swim downstream.
Her brown breasts beneath the sky,
in the heat of July she drifts by like a dream.
And the thoughts she has that ebb and flow
will I ever know where they go to find their rest?
Do they run back to land?
Do they run back to the man who knows her best?
But I know: the river of love has no shore,
the river of love has no shore.
And if I should lose her,
I'd never accuse her of being untrue.
Tell me whom could I blame?
I know you can't tame the currents inside you.
So I sit by the muddy bank
and I thank the stars that shine on us,
whether we're together or apart.
I'm in no hurry,
and there's nothing that can worry my open heart.
Because I know: the river of love has no shore,
the river of love has no shore
